Auburn man arrested on murder charge after Wednesday shooting

AUBURN, Ala.- On Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, Auburn Police arrested Jeremy Maurice Dowdell, age 31, from Auburn, on a felony warrant charging him with Capital Murder.  

 At about 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, Auburn Police received a shots fired call at an apartment complex in the 800 block of North Gay Street. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered the body of a deceased male, identified as Marquavious Willdarious Boler, age 27, lying in the parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased by Lee County Coroner Bill Harris.   

 An investigation into the homicide by Auburn Police resulted in Jeremy Dowdell being developed as a suspect.  Dowdell, who was an acquaintance of the victim, was identified as a passenger in a vehicle seen fleeing the scene after shooting Boler. The shooting stemmed from a confrontation in the parking lot that escalated to Dowdell firing upon the victim.   

 Auburn Police located Dowdell at a residence in Auburn and took him into custody. He was later transported to the Lee County Jail where he remains in custody without bond. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Montgomery for examination.
